What is Ozone Depletion? Many products in industry produce chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) that can deplete the ozone in the stratosphere. Depleting ozone is simply the CFCs reacting with sunlight to release chlorine, which reacts with the ozone or O3 creating different compounds and getting rid of the ozone layer.

Where is it?Ozone Depletion is worst in the Arctic and Antarctic, but is not limited to those areas.
How do we Solve this Problem? The only way to replenish the ozone in the stratosphere is to get rid of the things destroying it, chlorine and bromine. Many nations met in the 1990s to discuss this issue, and they agreed to limit their CFC use, called the Montreal Protocol. This was a good start, but more must be done.
